For Yours is the Kingdom
For Yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever. Amen.
"For Yours is the kingdom…" God is the creator of everything that was created, the earth, mankind, everything on the earth, all creation. All the kingdoms of the world belong to God as the creator. He is the only one worthy of praise and worship.
One of the attributes of God is that He is all power. I like what Tozer says about God's power in Meditations on the Trinity p. 31 (Tozer, A. W. Meditations on the Trinity. Moody Publishers, 2017.) Referencing Deuteronomy 3:24 Tozer said:
"God is the source of all power there is. There isn't any power anywhere that doesn't have God as its source, whether it be the power of the intellect, of the spirit, of the soul, of dynamite, of the storm, or of magnetic attraction. Wherever there is any power at all, God is the author of it. And the source has to be greater than that which flows out of it. … So if all power there is came from God - all the power - therefore, God's power must be equal to or greater than all power there is1."
As creator of all that is created all glory belongs to God. Humankind was meant to reflect God's glory, we were meant to be a reflection of God. At the fall when Adam sinned we no longer reflected God's glory. As we draw closer to Him in prayer we "are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:14-18.
Deuteronomy 3:24 NKJV
'O Lord GOD', You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do anything like Your works and Your mighty deeds?
Matthew 6:13 NKJV
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
2 Corinthians 3:14-18 NKJV
But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. [15] But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. [16] Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. [17] Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. [18] But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
