The Lord's Prayer
What does Matthew 6:10 mean to you? Throughout all covenants there is one consistent requirement from God. "…if you diligently listen to and obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do …" This was true before the Law, under the Law, and under Grace. It is the one way to have God's blessings chase after you. If you do not listen you cannot obey.
Matthew 6:10 "your will be done…" listening to and obeying God's voice leads to His will being done on earth. This isn't a prayer that is outside the believer. God's will over all the earth, it needs to be more personal. God's will in my life, in the things I do on a daily basis. How I conduct my life, every decision I make. Am I diligently listening to and obeying God's voice "on earth as it is in heaven?"
Matthew 6:10 AMP
'Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.'
I need to remember to forgive. When someone does something to hurt me I cannot return evil for evil. I need to forgive and return good for evil. This is a principle throughout the New Testament. Paul talks about response to those who persecute you in Romans 12:14 and Corinthians 4:12 and Peter talks of repaying good for evil in 1 Peter 3:9
Matthew 6:12 NLT
and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
Romans 12:14 NIV
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
1 Corinthians 4:12 NIV
We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;
1 Peter 3:9 NIV
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
Lord Jesus Christ, I believe you are the son of God the only way to God, that you died on the cross for my sins, and rose again from the dead. On the basis of what you did for me, I believe Satan's claims against me are cancelled. And so now Lord Jesus I submit myself to you, I commit myself to serve and obey you, and on that basis I take my stand against every dark evil force that in anyway has come into my life. Whether it be through my own acts, acts of my family, of my ancestors, or of something larger that I am a part of. Wherever there is any darkness in my life, any evil force, Lord I renounce it now, I refuse any longer to submit to it. In the almighty name of Jesus the son of God I take authority over all these evil forces, I loose myself from them, and I release myself entirely from their power. I drive them from me now in the name of Jesus and I invite and invoke the Holy Spirit of God to move right in and make my deliverance and my liberation fully effectual as only the Spirit of God can do in Jesus name. Amen9.
